Blown Out

Our first attempt at the Camargue-Marseille delivery today was blown out, with winds reaching Force 7 on the Beaufort scale (40mph) and waves up to 4 meters high. With these conditions, it was impossible for us to even leave the dock, so we spent our time getting used to the layout of the Grand Surprise, as well as tackling a mounting work list.

The forecast for Wednesday is looking much more promising, so we are planning to complete the delivery tomorrow.

Au revoir,

Team URI/USA

  1. I raced the very boats you are going to be using (I assume you are getting one of Team Wind's boats) this June with a Columbia Business School team out of Port Camargue. The Grand Surprise is a really fun a race boat. Best of luck!

  2. Should have just sent it. Sounded like a nice day for a delivery.

  3. "Marseille Force 7" has a nice ring to it - maybe a good name for a rock band. I am actually rather glad that you DIDN'T deliver in that welcoming weather and that the team had time to shed the jet lag and unwind from the "cultural experience." The team has made it to the home page of URI - lots of people talking it up! We are so proud of our Rams!
